My Darling Becca,
I really wish that it would let me view the last post WHILE I am writing a new one because we both know how awful my memory is. But alas, I will try to remember as much as my measly front lobe of my left side brains will allow. I found it ironic that you went to the gym and worked out yesterday because one of the things I was going to tell you today was that I worked out. I did not go to a gym, but I did jog on the treadmill and workout using the Wii Fit, which I figure is just as good as going to the gym... Today while working out, I realized two things. One, working out is hard, REALLY HARD. I have becoming insanely jealous of my brother who can eat what he wants, not work out, and still be a twig. However it's worth it to know that one day soon I will be able to beat you in an arm wrestle. Secondly, I realized that the Wii Fit is the best way for me to exercise. Not only is my train a trim and attractive male, but it rewards me when I exercise and calls me things like yoga master and body builder! I am trying to view my body as God's temple so it will hopefully encourage me to keep exercising. Plus I always tell myself that I want to be in shape if someone ever attacks me so I can beat them up and then run away.
Hmmmm, what was next...... Chronicles of Narnia! Again, another thing we have in common, I have never read them either! I don't have all the books in the series but I would like to read them one day. I am reading Persuasion, the only major Jane Austen novel I haven't read. So far I've met a simple yet lovely young lady named Anne, her materialistic and overly admired older sister, an old woman who thinks she knows everything, and a father who doesn't know how to keep his wallet shut. Maybe I'll try to hurry and read this last Jane Austen novel so I can read Narnia with you. It sounds like it's a biography of my life...j/k...maybe...probably not...but you never know.
I also went to Walmart today. As you have told me several times I needed to get more modest clothing, which I thank you for your honesty and bravery to hold me accountable for it. You had advised me that you heard Walmart had long shorts and long shirts so I thought I'd check it out. I spend $80 at Walmart today on clothes, but listen to all that I got for that deal. 4 pairs of shorts, 2 sun dress (one of which is purple...YAY!), 2 t-shirts (one was only $1...ONE DOLLAR I SAY!) and a white cami to wear under the dresses. Now I see why Walmart is so appealing, especially with my post-grad unemployed budget. AND OH MY GOSH GUESS WHAT!?!?! ONE OF THE SHIRTS I GOT IS A BEATLES ABBEY ROAD SHIRT WHICH IS MY FAVORITE BEATLES ALBUM SO NEEDLESS TO SAY I THINK THE ALL CAPS ACCURATELY DEPICT MY CURRENT STATE OF EXTREME EXCITEMENT! How many days is too many to wear the same shirt in a row?
As for the deeper, more serious stuff, I also have been LOVING the devotional we got from OBF because each day is so chalk full of great scripture (as if any scripture isn't great). I remember a couple days ago I read a verse from John 16 that says "I have said these things to you that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world" This was so comforting to me because I know sometimes, especially now that I'm looking for a job, I run into a lot of problems in the world, like people not liking me enough to hire me or telling me I'm not good enough for their standards, or things like that. But this verse reminded me that I shouldn't let any of these things shake my faith because ultimately, God is ruler of the universe, and that includes this world. Jesus has overcome it so as long as I am in Him, I'm safe and don't need to feel the burdens of these tribulations.
In closing, I would like to thank you for the picture of Schnappy. I miss him dearly and with all my heart. I will cherish the memory of him and all the times I used him to scare you forever. But I am wondering if you could answer one question for me: Why does it look like Schnappy is on a stripper pole?!
Love Always and Forever,
Rachel
P.S. I just discovered that spell check actually DOES show you the correct spelling for a word! YAY and dare I say YAY again! Now more words will be spelled right in these post, but I still take no responsibility for the grammatical errors which I am sure are abounding.
