Becca,
Your poem was beautiful, truly beautiful. Actually, in all honestly, it was a really good poem! I am very impressed with your rhyming and extensive vocabulary. In fact, it inspired me to write a poem of my own. Granted, mine is less witty, and uses MUCH simpler vocabulary, but someone out there might appreciate it. Since I don't have a pet to write a love poem about, I wrote about the next dearest thing in my heart...
Ode To The Floss In My Desk,
Oh floss, words cannot express
how glad I am to have you around.
When food in my teeth is stuck,
you never let me down.
No longer must I eat
only boring soup or juice
Yes now I have the freedom
to eat foods that must be chewed.
When I think of how I trembled
at the thought of certain foods,
and how they would remain,
like a guest who's leave is overdue.
So convenient to be found,
in the drawer a top my desk.
Always willing to come to my rescue,
floss, you truly are the best.
So chicken bring your strings
and lettuce bring your green leaves
Because thanks to this beautiful floss,
there won't be no food found in these teeth!
